The health and safety of the people we love is the most important thing in the world to us. Your comfort is also extremely vital to this celebration.
We understand it’s asking a lot for you to travel amidst a pandemic and that many of you live thousands of miles away. We’re staying up to date with all CDC recommendations, as well as the situation in Portugal.
UPDATE: Portugal is the most vaccinated country in the world and reopened on October 1st! The pandemic and your safety are still very important to us, so here’s some info on what you can expect during your time in Lisbon.
Portugal & EU Travel Requirements (Updated Oct 7)
The EU has opened its borders to people traveling from the US and within the EU.
For EU Citizens, the EU Digital COVID Certificate will allow easy entry into Portugal. The certificate provides proof that you have either:
a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours prior to arrival
proof of vaccination
Proof you’ve recovered from COVID-19 recently
For non-EU citizens or those who were vaccinated outside of the EU, regulations as of Oct 7 state you will need to take a COVID test before boarding even if you’ve been vaccinated. You will also need to fill out the passenger locator form. Portugal is accepting the following tests:
PCR Test within 72h of boarding, or Rapid Antigen Test within 48h of boarding.
For Everyone: As of October 7th, COVID Tests or an EU Digital COVID Certificate are required at bars and nightclubs but restaurants are open with no limit to group size.
If you’re traveling back to the US after the wedding, don’t forget you’ll need a negative test result taken within 3 days of boarding. You can find testing locations in Lisbon and book an appointment here: https://travelcheck-in.app/user/. Rapid tests are 25€ each.
*If you have a connecting flight to/from Portugal, don’t forget to check COVID restrictions in the airport where you have a layover.

Precaution and Considerations for the Wedding Day
As of October 7th, 85% of the Portugal population are fully vaccinated and 87% have received at least one dose.
As of October, Portugal is allowing weddings at full capacity. Our entire guest list is less than 50% of the venue capacity.
A typical Lisbon day in late October is 68°F/20°C and sunny! So our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner will be outdoors with plenty of air and space.
We will provide shuttle transportation to/from the venue and hotel. Masks will likely be required.
Even if it’s no longer required, you are welcome to wear a mask at any time during the celebration if it makes you more comfortable!
COVID-19 INFO
Masks will likely still be required in public spaces around Lisbon.
Our wedding will take place in a covered, outdoor setting.
Tables will be spaced apart and we’re happy to seat people according to your comfort.
The dancing portion of the evening will be indoors.
We encourage anyone who wants to wear a mask at the wedding to do so.
